My name's Steve, and I'm a cartoonist.
Saturday is one of the two days off I get on any regular week. On this particular day, on the other side of the country, two things are happening:
The first is that the San Diego Comic-con is in full swing. All the latest thrilling news of upcoming animated films and comic books and much more is starting to trickle over the conduits of the internet, and most of my favorite webcomics have been temporarily replaced by guest artists, as they've all flown to the west coast to be a part of the excitement.
The other is that my girlfriend, Danie, is preparing to go to her evening job, as a security guard.
Not long ago, we visited Charlotte, in North Carolina, and attended HeroesCon, which we both enjoyed immensely, though afterwards, we felt like we weren't able to enjoy it to its fullest extent. I think this is really because we really felt like the convention was something in which we should have been participating, not merely attending.
Walking about and interacting with the artists is quite a thrill. Talking with artists who seemed much like ourselves--people with clever ideas, and a passion for picking up a pencil and putting ideas on paper.
I have started this blog as a chronicle/how-to (or how-not-to) guide/love letter to cultivating a dream of creating art, getting published, networking with friends and fellow artists, and maintaining a long-distance relationship with another soulmate who shares the same passions and dreams that I do, and that hopefully many readers do, as well.
Unleash the dreaming, and let the great experiement begin.
